Citrus Bearss Lime

Lemon-sized oval fruit with a thin adherent rind - pale greenish/yellow at maturity. Greenish acidic juicy pulp that rarely has seeds.

Habit - Moderately vigorous small to medium tree with spreading habit and nearly thornless. Densely dark green foliage with compact habit. Attractive pot plant so you can appreciate the fragrant flowers and fruit. Protect from strong cold winds and hard winter frosts.

Size - 3 metres

Citrus Cipo Orange

Large orange fruit with a few seeds but very juicy and sweet.

Habit - This weeping standard, moderately vigorous with a few thorns has a densely compact habit. Ideal for container or the small garden.

Size - 1.5m x 1.5m.

Pollination - Self-fertile. Grafted trees start bearing 2-4 years after planting.

Harvest - Long harvest from July to November.

Citrus Kaffir Lime

Dark glossy aromatic leaves that look like two leaves joined together. Interesting brain-like fruit with a thick yellowish/green rind. The flesh is sour and slightly bitte, very little juice.

Habit - Small tree with branched thorny growth.

Size - 2 x 1.5m

Pollination - Self-fertile

Harvest - the aromatic leaves are an essential ingrediant in many Asian dishes. The leaves can be used fresh, dried or even frozen to be used later. Fruit is rarely used due to lack of juice and sour flavour.

Medium sized easy peel Mandarin/Tangerine hybrid, with a distinctive orange skin, with darker orange stripes. Exceptional flavour which is both very sweet and very juicy. Low acidity.

Sweetie is a medium sized Mandarin/Tangerine hybrid with easy peel fruit which has an exceptional flavour which is both sweet and juicy.

Zest is a medium sized Mandarin/Tangerine hybrid with an excellent flavour, which is rich and tangy but also juicy and sweet.

Citrus Lemon Meyer

Treat your senses to the sight and smell of these nearly ever-flowering and the juice has a distinct floral fragrance but low acidity. Its delicate white flowers and the thin smooth bright yellow 6-9cm long fruit are purple-tinted, surrounded by luscious green leaves, send out a fresh aromatic invitation to enjoy the moment. Its fruit, a cross between a lemon and an orange is sweet and slightly tart. The fruit can be enjoyed year round and used in its entirety including the peel and pulp.

Habit - Much more, cold hardy than true lemons, are densely foliaged compact habit, moderately vigorous, and small to medium tree, spreading and nearly thornless.

Size - 3 x 2 metres

Pollination - Self-fertile

Harvest - A tree usually begins fruiting in four years. Most fruit is produced from April to December, but fruit can be produced in any season.

Citrus Lemon Yen Ben

Aromatic glossy leaves and white fragrant flowers. Followed by long oblong firm fruit that has excellent keeping quality. Produces a heavy yield so fruit thinning is advised for best fruit size. Superior juice content with low seed count. Sharp acidic flavour, excellent for cooking or your G&T. Smooth thin pale yellow skin, great for zest and dried lemon peel.

Habit - Sport of Lisbon Lemon. Originated in Queensland in the 1930s. Imported to NZ 1970s. Compact evergreen tree. Ideal for a container on your deck so you can enjoy the fragrant flowers and the fruit are handy.

Size - 3 - 4 metres high.

Pollination - Self-fertile.

Harvest - Produces a crop nearly all year round. But 60 - 70% of production is in winter May to November.

Citrus Limequat

Heavy crops of small oval lemon coloured fruit, the flesh is juicy and acidic. Use as a lime substitute.

Habit - Hybrid between west Indian lime and Kumquat. Attractive evergreen shrub. Cool climate lime.

Size - Growing to the size of 3 x 2 metres.

Pollination - Self-fertile. Cutting grown trees start bearing 2-4 years after planting.

Harvest - Nearly ever-bearing.

Citrus Tahitian Lime

Small almost round pale greenish yellow fruit with yellow/green juicy pulp. Distinct lime aroma and flavour.

Habit - Vigorous hardy tree with drooping branches. Medium sized leaves. Nearly thorn-free. Cross between Mexican lime and citron or lemon. Almost as cold tolerant as lemons.

Size - 2 x 4 metres

Pollination - Faintly fragrant flowers are self-fertile. Pollinated by bees and insects.

Harvest - May and June.
