Oak Leaved Papaya

  • Landscaping

An attractive spreading tree 4-6 m in height with large oak-like leaves and golden drop-shaped fruit. A great addition to a sub-tropical garden. Its deciduous form is even dramatic in winter with the large multi-thick trunks. Plant in groups of three for a dramatic feature.

  • Culinary & Nutrition

Contains vitamins A and C, folate, calcium, phosphates, magnesium and iron. It also includes papin, which gives it tenderising properties. The striped orange fruit is sweet and musky with a zesty perfume. Skin is thin and edible. Eat fresh straight from the tree.

  • Growing Conditions

Plant in full sun protected from winds. Requires well-drained soil as it does not like wet feet. It is frost-hardy and requires little care or maintenance. Requires two or more plants for pollination.
